An access log is a text file which contains an extensive report on all the files accessed by your Internet site visitors. All of the files which were requested in one way or another will be included, so when you have a PHP script program and a website visitor opens only the home page, for instance, you might find a lot of files in the log. This is because there are things on the home page that are embedded - parts of other pages, pictures, etc. All of these files will be listed in the access log, allowing you to get a full picture of the way your site works. The info is in plain text format, so the logs are frequently called "raw data" too. An access log shows the name of each requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, along with the user’s IP address, browser and Operating System. Additional information, including the referrer Internet site, is oftentimes included too. A log file may be processed by various desktop applications for statistical purposes as an addition to the web statistics provided by your server.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Hosting

Our custom Hepsia CP includes a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. As you sign in to your cloud hosting account and navigate to this section, you will find a list of all the domain names and subdomains you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to press a button that'll be available next to every domain/subdomain. When the option is active, you will see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your computer and examine it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect immediately, so if you don't need one, you could stop it with simply a mouse click from the very same section of the CP. You'll still be able to access the already developed content by clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, it will not take more than a couple of mouse clicks to enable the generation of access logs by our system if you require them. The function may be enabled from the Hepsia website hosting Control Panel and this may be done individually for each domain name or subdomain you have inside your account. When you log in and look at the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you will see a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each of them. One click shall activate the log generation and a second one shall disable it, so you can control this feature with great ease. A Download link in the same section will permit you to save the created content as a text file, which you can then use on your PC. Whether or not the logs are disabled, you shall still be able to download the data that's been previously generated.
